From T-Level to Team Member

Kayla joined us from Wigan & Leigh College through a  T-Level placement and quickly became a valued part of the team. By March this year, her hard work, and commitment led to her stepping into a full-time role within our Customer Care department.

Since joining the team permanently, Kayla has taken on a key role supporting on a range of maintenance contracts. Her day-to-day responsibilities include speaking directly with residents and customers, arranging appointments, coordinating schedules, and working closely with our engineers to ensure jobs are completed smoothly and efficiently.

We caught up with Kayla to talk about her experience, what she’s learned so far, and how her journey with RPS Group has developed from placement student to full-time team member.

How Does it feel to go from being a T-Level student to a permanent team member?

I’ve grown a lot in confidence and feel more productive day to day while continuing to develop my skills, especially in time management and communication. Speaking with residents regularly has really helped me come out of my shell, and being part of a team working on a set contract has made me feel more settled and involved.

What advice would you give to a student who is about to start a T-Level?

Try your hardest to always stay motivated if you ever doubt yourself!

How did a mix of classroom learning and hands on work help you prepare for this role?

I already had a good understanding of how business work and what each departments roles were making it easier to transition into a working setting

Whats the best part about working with this team everyday?

How welcoming and friendly everyone is and they have great office banter.

What are your long term career goals?

I would like to own my own business eventually and be able to put into practice skills I have learnt.

Her journey from placement student to full-time team member reflects the value of investing in young talent and creating opportunities for future careers within the industry. We’re proud to see Kayla continue to grow within the business and look forward to supporting her ongoing development at RPS Group.
