Platt, Worsley & Bickerdike Court- Heating System Upgrades & Sprinkler System Works

RPS undertook replacement of heating systems and installation of sprinkler systems works to Platt Court & Worsley Court in Fallowfield, and Bickerdike Court, Levenshulme.

Works were undertaken for our client One Manchester, who manage more than 12,000 homes across Greater Manchester.

Our M&E Division were engaged to design, supply, install, test and commission the complete mechanical services installations for the refurbishment / replacement works.

The works involved the strip-out, replacement and refurbishment of the heating systems and the installation of a new sprinkler system across the three high rise tower blocks.

All Installations were in accordance with part L of the Building Regulations and
associated domestic and non-domestic compliance guides. All systems were required to be functional, aesthetically pleasing and fully in accordance with the Employer’s environmental requirements.

Low maintenance costs, low running costs and long life were important criteria in selection of all equipment and systems. Mitsubishi Air Source Heat pump CAHV P500 technology was adapted to work in conjunction with gas fired plant to provide a Hybrid Heating system capable of providing ambient temperatures to the Common rising supplies to 226 dwellings. Within the apartments individual Heat interface units were adopted to provide the residents with all hot water and central heating requirements.

Across each of the three buildings , our team also undertook the following works:

As a part of the project, RPS ensured that social value was delivered as a direct result of the investment by One Manchester. We provided the installation of a heating system within the Aquarius Centre, a local community Centre based in Hulme. The Centre runs a range of educational and social activities for all ages. Provision of the new system by RPS ensures that the building is comfortable, efficient and can be used by the community it serves all year round.
