At the latest Vico Homes tenant engagement day Susan spoke to RPS about her experience!
Susan has lived in the Wakefield area for 8 years, originally under WDH and now Vico. Susan initially had roof works which were completed last year followed by her Solar panels.
Since the installation Susan has adapted the way she uses her electricity to maximise the benefits of the Solar PV. By making small changes like the ways she cooks, the times of day she uses her electricity and monitoring that her usage stays in the “green” Susan has seen a reduction in her bills. “Yes, they’re not dramatic but they have dropped, they have definitely gone down. I go off my meter and to put it childlike I try to keep everything in the green as much as possible”
Susan was happy with the installation process, from early communications to completion she said “The communication is always good, they always do what they say” She was also surprised at how much care was taken in and around her property. Although the installers were only inside briefly they were very respectful, they also had to dig up in the front garden and she was impressed everything was put back so well.
The process was straightforward and easy for Susan she was happy she had very little to do with the scaffolding going up and the panels going on, Susan said the scaffolding was “a small price to pay” for the long term benefit of the Solar Panels. As a widow Susan valued the installers respect for her privacy Susan said “ There was no invasion of privacy” even with scaffolding being used.
We asked Susan what she would say to anyone looking to get solar panels installed she said “It saves money, that’s all we need this day and age, all we need is to save money. And if they’re free why not?”
Susan has had such a positive experience and even mentioned that some of her friends are jealous that she has been able to take advantage of the Solar Panels with Vico.
